Selvaggio Blu Extreme

The most demanding version of the classic Selvaggio Blu. It is covered from north to south along very exposed ledges and long abseils. A very interesting challenge for people who already practice via ferrata, climbing or mountaineering

The itinerary

Compared to the Selvaggio Blu Classic, which runs from south to north, the Selvaggio Blu Extreme takes place in the opposite direction. It is sometimes called Selvaggio Blu Filu Pendere or Blu Selvaggio. However, it is a completely separate itinerary, with only a few short stretches in common with the classic tour. It requires a greater engagement, especially from a technical point of view. The trails are less evident, you often walk on uneven ground through dense vegetation. There are many exposed sections along the ledges where you need to pay attention. However, the more difficult sections will always be made safe with fixed ropes by the Mountain Guide . There are also many rope abseils and many of these are in the void with a length of up to 60 meters. Sure-footedness, a habit of walking on challenging paths and confidence with the exposure are the basic requirements for taking part in the Selvaggio Blu 2.0. Via ferrata, climbing or mountaineering experience is also highly recommended. The Mountain Guide will contact you to understand the level of experience and possibly propose a brief moment of specific training. To give our customers the best possible experience each Guide will travel with a limited number of participants (maximum 5).

Except for the first day, we will always remain overlooking the sea, enjoying the incredible views. Along the Selvaggio Blu Extreme we will also reach all the best beaches of this coast (Biriala, Mariuolu, Sisine, Mudaloru, Goloritzè) and even the bivouacs will be a stone's throw from the sea. One thing that we particularly care about is to introduce our guests to local traditions and culture. The logistical support guys will open to us the doors of their homes, telling stories about customs and letting us try the real Sardinian cuisine. Don't miss it!

Programm

Day 1 - Meeting

Meeting at the B&B in Santa Maria Navarrese around 4 pm for a briefing with the guide and packing. You can arrive in Sardinia with the luggage you prefer, the guide will then give you a watertight bin where you will put your things to take during the tour. The suitcase can be left at the B&B and recovered upon return. In the evening we will move to a country house where we will be served a traditional Sardinian dinner with all local and homemade products.

Day 2 - S'Istrada Longa - Cala Sisine

From the B&B we will reach Margine and the entrance to Bacu Addas with an off-road vehicle in about 1 hour. A Bacu is a canyon dug by water over the centuries, but now dry. We will descend along this gorge in the midst of centenary holm oaks until it ends on huge rock leaps. We will identify a track on the orographic right that will lead us to the beginning of the famous S'Istrada Longa. It's a long ledge suspended over the valley, sometimes less than a meter wide, which seems to have been made especially for crossing these seemingly insurmountable stretches. We are in one of the wildest places in Sardinia, dominated by huge limestone walls, precipices and vegetation shaped by the wind. At the end of the ledge, a beautiful juniper trunk staircase will give us access to the bottom of the Bacu along which we will reach the forest road that descends from Golgo. In about half an hour we will then arrive at Cala Sisine for a swim and to set up camp for the night. A nice barbecue under the stars will conclude the day.

Day 3 - Cala Sisine - Cala Biriala

Not a particularly long stage, but technical and extremely spectacular. From Cala Sisine we will go up along the walls of Punta Plumare until we find a weak point that will allow us to cross to the north following ledges and short climbs. A first 10m abseil will lead us to the start of one of the most spectacular via ferratas we can imagine. The Plumare ferrata is a long mid-wall traverse suspended over the sea! Some stretches are not trivial and require good use of the feet. However, the route is well equipped. The via ferrata then seems to end in the middle of nowhere, and it is precisely here that the real abseils begin. The first (35 meters) and the subsequent truly breathtaking 60 meters will deposit us on the path of the Selvaggio Blu Classic just before a big landslide.

We will abandon the Selvaggio Blu Classic further on to abseil for 40 meters to the beach of Biriala, a true Mediterranean jewel. After a relaxing bath we will set up the camp in the designated area in the grove just above.

Day 4 - Cala Biriala - Portu Mudaloru

Another demanding stage, but not less spectacular than the previous one. From Cala Biriala we will go up briefly along the main path and then leave it with a 40m abseil. Another extremely wild stretch begins here, where identifying the track will not be easy. We will make our way between the walls following goat paths and, after passing a juniper staircase, we will set foot on the Selvaggio Blu Classic route. A short uphill stretch to the Ololbissi sheepfold and then off again towards the sea starting a long series of abseils (Bacu Padente). After the third we will enter the mountain directly, crossing it completely through caves with magnificent stalactites until we see the sea again. Resuming the classic route of the Selvaggio Blu we will follow it backwards with short climbs before descending to Portu Mudaloru, a cave with a small beach inside. We will spend the night nearby.

Duration: 7 ore

Lenght: 13 km

Day 5 - Portu Mudaloru - Cala Goloritzè

The grand finale! Intense start right away. We will go up the wall in a southerly direction: a series of ledges with very exposed passages will lead us to a long trunk of juniper leaning against the wall. We will go up it safely and here begin one of the most unforgettable sections of the tour. A long ledge about a meter high and suspended in the void will force us to crawl to pass. The sea view is amazing. The Mountain Guides will secure all these passages with fixed ropes.

At the end we will resume walking comfortably before taking a long traverse that will lead us to Cala Mariolu. If the weather permits, we will stop for a swim and then continue on a clear mule track towards the south. We will thus arrive at the end of the Goloritzè ferrata and then reach its base with an aerial and panoramic descent. In the background the famous Aguglia Goloritzè and the white beach. The finish line is near, but attention must remain high. The last stretch runs along the Su Ledere, exposed friable rock ledges often equipped with fixed ropes. The last difficulty is a white rock slab where abseiling is necessary to descend safely. At its end we will finally be able to relax and reach the beach in a few minutes. We will have some time for relax and a nice swim before getting on the dinghy that will take us back to Santa Maria Navarrese for a regenerating shower. Another typical Sardinian dinner will conclude this adventure.
