Mountaineering and more on this 4000m peak in the central Alps

On the border between Lombardy and Switzerland, the Bernina is the mountain massif over 4000 meters to the east of the Alps. In the summer, classic mountaineering on ridges and glaciers is the main activity. The Biancograt on Bernina (4050m) or Piz Palù (3905m) traverse are some of the best and most spectacular climbs in the Alps. It is also possible to climb some amazing via ferrata like for example on Piz Trovat.

In winter  we find here the ideal terrain for freeriding using the Corvatsch / Diavolezza ski lifts and for ski mountaineering for all levels, a must is the descent to the very long Morteratsch glacier.
