Climbing week in Sardinia
Six days discovering Sardinia's best rock, a compact limestone among the finest in the world. We'll be based near Baunei, on the island's east coast, where, in addition to a huge selection of routes, we'll also be strategically located for visiting other areas like Jerzu and Cala Gonone.
The rock here is particularly abrasive, and if we'd like to give our fingers a rest, we plan to climb some short, evocative sections of the Selvaggio Blu route during the day.
In the evening, the excellent local cuisine (including Mirto and Cannonau) will be the perfect way to recover from the exertions.
Dates
March 30 to April 5, 2026
Meeting Point
Sunday, 4:00 PM (Baunei/Lotzorai area) to meet and discuss the week's program.
Outline Program
Day 1 - Sunday
Meet in the afternoon at the B&B with a start-of-the-week briefing.
Day 2 - Monday
Climbing at a crag in the Baunei area. Pedra Longa, Villaggio Gallico, Gocce di Natale, Monte Oro, and Monte Scoine are some of the options that will be chosen based on the group's level and requests. Vertical walls with crimps and sharp drops overlooking the sea are the main features of these top-quality crags.
Day 3 - Tuesday
Climbing in the Jerzu/Ulassai area. About an hour's drive away is one of the most beautiful climbing spots in Sardinia and beyond. Today, we'll be in the Sardinian hinterland, at over 500 meters above sea level, amidst the hills. Here, we'll find a huge variety of routes, from vertical to overhanging to more technical slabs. There's something for everyone!
Day 4 - Wednesday
Today we'll give our arms a break, but especially the skin on our fingers. Today's plan is to visit a wild corner of the Baunei coast, crossed by the famous Selvaggio Blu route. Bacu Su Padente is a route that features a series of rappels from the plateau down to the sea. Cave passages and a constant view of the sea make this a unique experience, and we definitely recommend it! Weather permitting, the return journey can be made by dinghy.
Day 5 - Thursday
Well rested, we'll head to another super climbing spot, Cala Gonone, about an hour's drive north. Cala Fuili, with its beautiful routes just steps from the beach, or the breathtakingly panoramic Margheddie, will offer a five-star day on rock.
Day 6 - Friday
Perhaps a little tired from the previous days, today we'll combine climbing and the sea in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Cala Luna, reachable by trekking in about 1-1.5 hours (or by dinghy), is a white-sand beach with vertical to overhanging cliffs just a few meters behind. A few pitches and then a swim in the crystal-clear sea will be the day's plan.
Day 7 - Saturday
For the last day, depending on how much time you have for returning home, we'll plan to climb on the cliffs in the Baunei area. The choice will be among the many we didn't see on the first day.
Notes
We purposely don't want to include accommodation in the week, leaving it up to each individual (hotel, camper, campsite). However, we can recommend, if you prefer, the B&B Villa Tancau near Santa Maria Navarrese (which we have a special agreement with).
We'll be able to recommend some typical restaurants where you can try local cuisine, both meat and fish. We can all go together, or you can each make your own plans.
