Breithorn West Summit 4,165 m

Your first 4000: a perfect introduction to high-altitude mountaineering

Your first 4000-meter peak

The ascent of Breithorn Occidentale (4,165 m) is one of the most fascinating and accessible experiences for those who want to approach high-altitude mountaineering.

Starting from Breuil - Cervinia and taking the first cable car of the morning, you quickly reach the Rifugio Guide del Cervino. From here, the ascent begins, accompanied by a certified Mountain Guide, along a scenic and progressive glacier route.

Why choose this climb

Breithorn West Summit is considered the easiest 4000-meter peak in the Alps, yet it is no less rewarding. It is the ideal choice for:

  • a first approach to mountaineering
  • gaining experience in a glacial environment
  • learning the basics of using crampons and ice axe
  • experiencing high altitude in a safe and controlled way

Ideal for acclimatization

Reaching over 4,000 meters, this climb is perfect for acclimatization before tackling more demanding objectives, such as other peaks in the Monte Rosa massif or the Matterhorn.

Accessible and highly rewarding

With a relatively affordable cost compared to other high-altitude ascents, Breithorn offers an outstanding experience-to-price ratio: a true 4000-meter summit, achievable with moderate effort but great satisfaction.
